Buccal Face Massage

..Welcome to a sanctuary for self care..

Designed to take you on a journey into deep relaxation, buccal face massage cocoons you in luscious pampering while dissolving layers of tension in the chest, neck, face and head. Sessions are tailored to meet your needs and offer a space for you to receive, fill your cup and simply 'be'.

Our muscles are all interconnected, from our pecs, traps, up to our neck, the jaw and masseter muscles, and together contribute to the tapestry that makes up our overall health. A blend of physical therapy and self-care benefits can be received; from unwinding mental tension, cultivating mindfulness and body awareness, and rebalancing the natural features and structures of your face, to relieving stress-induced jaw tension, TMJ/TMD, headache, migraine, muscle spasm or bruxism/teeth grinding.

This approach is about attending to the face, upper body and whole being with presence and nourishing touch. The face accumulates tension from life stressors and experiencing universal emotions which engage the facial muscles in repetitive patterns. For example, frown lines may emerge from frequent worry or overthinking. Similarly, experiencing sadness often engages facial muscles such as the depressors, pulling the corners of the lips down over time. Buccal face massage helps to softened stored tension, stretch out these contracted muscles and offer reference points and a pathway for what expansion and lightness feels like in the face and being.

This is an invitation to unwind into yourself, promoting health and vitality and revealing your inner radiance.

What does the buccal/intra-oral aspect involve?

Buccal or intra-oral massage is a unique technique in which the muscles around the mouth and jaw are worked not only from the outside, but the inside as well. The buccal component is performed with gloved hands using the thumbs and forefingers to massage the interior of the lips and cheeks, and working down to the jaw. It involves a level of pressure that is comfortable for you, with options for pauses at any time. It is commonly experienced as a feeling of tension or tightness.. yet oh-so-relieving in the aftermath!

Buccal massage is also often experienced as an intimate massage. The inside of the mouth is a vulnerable, often relatively untouched area, and the face is a primary vehicle of expressing our emotion and who we are. For some, this offers an opportunity to bring more awareness to their body and an access point to digesting any unresolved emotion in the face.

All experiences during a buccal face massage are welcomed and sessions are curated for your individual intentions and needs.

Not ready for or interested in intra-oral?

You are welcome to book a face massage without the buccal component. These sessions will include an emphasis on neck, external jaw, chest and arms.

Ingredient List

Zeolite

Zeolite, a hidden gem in the skincare scene, is one of nature's few negatively charged minerals, which means it's able to bind and remove toxins from your skin. This powerful mineral is anti inflammatory, an antioxidant and works to draw out and remove impurities and protect your skin from free radicals.

Calendula

Calendula is a flower that belongs in the marigold family and has been used medicinally for centuries. Gentle and soothing for the skin, calendula oil is also anti-inflammatory, hydrating, and promotes wound healing through antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Tremella Mushroom

Tremella mushrooms have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine and are supportive for both acne prone and sensitive skin. They are regaining popularity for their ability to improve skin elasticity, naturally draw moisture to the skin in a similar way to hyaluronic acid, and lock in your skin’s moisture by protecting the skin’s natural barrier.

Rosehip

Rosehip oil is well known for its skincare benefits including to improve skin elasticity and firmness, prevent blackheads, protect against sun damage and reduce inflammation. The vitamin A, or retinol, in rosehip oil encourages skin cell turnover, reducing dullness and hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin.

Prickly Pear

Prickly pear seed oil is prized for its high vitamin E content. The fruit in general is a rich source of nutrients, so it’s no wonder the seeds produce oil that’s the equivalent to liquid gold for the skin. It has been found to visibly reduce signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, uneven skin tone and dryness and with its high linoleic acid content, it helps to keep the skin hydrated and soft.

Kakadu Plum

Thanks to its ultra rich concentration of Vitamin C and Beta Carotene antioxidant, Kakadu plum oil helps to fade pigmentation, even out skin tone and improve skin texture to restore and renew the complexion. An Australian native, this extract is light weight and deeply penetrates the skin without clogging pores. A must-have if you want to increase your skin's luminosity.

Buccal face massage sessions also use shea butter, Vitamin E oil, micellar water and rose hydrosol. That's it.
